In total, some 700 fund companies are operating in Germany, ranging from independent fund boutiques to group-owned bank or insurance subsidiaries. BVI’s 116 members have total assets under management of around EUR 4,500 billion. More than 40 per cent of this is attributable to occupational and private old-age provision, making the industry the largest manager of capital for old-age provision in Germany. Investment funds also play a key role in financing companies, governments and infrastructure.
